Summary of Responsibilities

As a Translation Project Manager (Linguistic) your role will have three focus areas:

● overseeing and coordinating the delivery of a portfolio of courses for translation;

● creating and maintaining the required training material for on-boarding;

● sourcing and managing a team of linguists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying and recruiting freelance linguists with the appropriate qualifications, skills and experience and managing all administration around the recruiting process, liaising with the relevant internal departments
  • Developing all training materials for freelancers based on Lobster’s Project Management platform and online translation tool, on client style guides, glossaries and preferred terminology lists, on benchmark workflow and steps in the translation and review process and on general translation requirements & quality assurance
  • Coordinating and managing the linguist training process effectively and thoroughly.
  • Building and developing a reliable, effective linguist team of translators and reviewers, monitoring their progress & performance and reporting data findings
  • Being the main point of contact between suppliers, freelance linguists and Lobster International, communicating translations costs and delivery deadlines and managing all relationships effectively and professionally
  • Calculating budgets and creating quotes
  • Monitoring and administering all file management & quality checking the technical aspects of translated files and ensuring proper final display on site
  • Ensuring all project management records are kept up to date with all final documents and that these are saved on to the time capsule.

Skills, knowledge and attributes
  • Degree in Linguistics or related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Translation, Education or related field or role
  • Project Management and/or Translation qualification or relevant experience
  • Exceptional command of the English language (written and verbal) is essential
  • Strong grammar, spelling and punctuation skills are critical
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office – Mac use is an advantage
  • Understanding of translation software & CAT tools is an advantage
  • Understanding of the hospitality industry is beneficial but not essential
  • Understanding of the translation industry with knowledge of international associations, standards and forums
  • Proven ability in managing metrics and improving efficiencies
  • A natural educator with the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and effective way
