Summary 

Reporting to the VP of Learning on a per-project basis, the Senior Learning Consultant is responsible for designing a course and working on a project team with a Team Lead, a Instructional Designer and a Project Manager to see the course through to completion. The Senior Learning Consultant (Culinary) will work closely with the VP of Learning for Culinary in engaging with clients, constructing a sound course plan and guiding Subject Matter Experts in providing the pivotal information to ensure achievement of the course learning objectives.

The role is a career path role to eventually become a VP of Learning. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with a VP of Learning, and support them in:
    - Developing a course outline in collaboration with the client and/or content expert
    - Identifying learning outcomes and learning key lesson objectives and applying instructional design principles to meet the learning needs of the audience
  • Conduct follow up meetings with client and/or subject matter expert to scope and qualify course requirements in the Course Plan, and gather related or existing material / content
  • Consolidate the course content as per the Course Plan requirements
  • Review scripts for quality and sound learning principles
  • Work with VPs of Learning to gain stakeholder approval at key milestones
  • Collaborate with Team Lead, Project Manager and Instructional Designer on a project team to brainstorm and visualize the course for video
  • Ensure quality is maintained and outcomes are achieved by reviewing the assessments, activities
  • Perform quality assurance on all courses before publishing
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the culinary and food services environment
  • Ideally experience in different types of culinary environments, including restaurants, catering and events and industrial cooking environments
  • Ideally qualification in Instructional Design, Education, English, Linguistics
  • Thorough knowledge of learning theories and Instructional Design
  • Ideally prior experience in lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Experience with online learning (e-learning) course development
  • Experience with Client and Subject Matter Expert consultation
  • Experience in journalism or writing is an advantage

  • Be sharp in analysis, evaluation and quality assurance assessment.
  • Display good analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information from various sources
  • Effectively communicate both visually and verbally, be a good listener and create measurable objectives, based on the audience’s needs
  • Create content with information that can be used and applied in the real world.
  • Select the right instructional multimedia, and write effective copies, texts, audio and video scripts
  • Focus on the expected outcomes, based on the audience’s prior skills, experience, expectations and needs, and design a course based on the available technology, budget and time
  • Be a successful, flexible and resourceful problem solver, able to tackle with any kind of setback and obstacle
