As a Senior Editor and Videographer you will be directly involved in the management and effective running of the daily operations of the Production department. The main function of this role is to lead a project under the guidance of the Team Lead as well as to assist the Production Supervisor and Creative Director as needed. This role has a large focus on leading filming and editing projects, managing junior team members, quality control and managing projects to completion.

The role involves filming in local and international locations. Applicants must be willing and able to travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • To effectively read through a project script and visualise what footage needs to be filmed that is in line with the voiceover
  • To conceptualise and create shot lists that are simply explained and concise, yet detailed
  • To creatively and efficiently edit videos using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, with consistent high quality according to the deadlines and style guides given
  • To accurately and creatively shoot with various types of cameras within a team structure, with the ability to lead the production on occasion
  • To create a Visual Report for the day’s shoot, ensuring that this is sent to the Production Supervisor and Creative Director at the end of each day (whilst filming)
  • To create a Style Guide for the post-production look and feel of each project
  • To take responsibility for consistent and accurate data management through media asset management, data storage, back-ups and archiving


  • Matric and relevant tertiary qualification such as a Degree in Film and Video or similar (Honours or Masters is an advantage)
  • 3 – 5 years’ video editing and filming work experience
  • An individual portfolio or showreel of projects filmed and edited is essential to show pieces edited and filmed by candidate
  • Skills, knowledge and attributes
  • Intimate understanding and knowledge of various types of cameras, especially DSLR and mirrorless cameras
  • Fundamental knowledge and experience of filming and editing workflows e.g. on-set management, dumping, media management, archiving, back-ups as well as importing and exporting
  • Experience in filming educational videos or documentaries is an advantage
  • Detailed knowledge of editing with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in Adobe After Effects and Illustrator Creative Cloud Suite is an advantage
  • Working knowledge of the Macintosh operating system is preferred
  • Understanding of bitrate, aspect ratio and resolution in exporting videos from Premiere Pro CC & Media Encoder as well as various other encoding software
  • Excellent time management and quality management skills are essential
  • Experience in web content delivery is advantageous
  • Understanding of the hospitality industry is beneficial but not essential
  • Understanding of a 3rd language is beneficial
  • Exceptional command of the English language (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal and relational skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team
  • Eager to learn and share knowledge, including the development and mentoring of junior team members
