Job Title: Motion Graphics and Design Supervisor 

Department: Production

Reporting to: Creative Director

Responsible for: Graphic Designers, Motion Graphic Designers and Freelancers 

Location: Cape Town

Type of contract : Full-time 


As the Motion Graphics and Design Supervisor you will be responsible for the conceptualisation and implementation of design solutions that meet the company brand strategies from concept to completion. The role involves listening and understanding clients’ needs to provide accurate and detailed information to the design team in order to propose creative solutions. The work requires creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • To coordinate and play a lead role in brainstorming sessions to convert ideas into design blueprints
  • To oversee the development of templates and style guides to ensure consistency and compliance with company brand standards
  • To be the communication link between Lobster International and SASDI to facilitate clear direction for the Design and Motion Graphics team
  • To manage the company brand integrity across all platforms and ensure that it is aligned to the vision and speaks to clients
  • To provide guidance and advice to clients on their design briefs to ensure that the final outcome is in line with their brand strategy and company objectives
  • To assist Heads of Departments and senior staff members with creative pitch presentations and layouts when required.
  • To assist with the quality assurance of the technical implementation of designs to ensure streamlining and limited formatting and alignment errors
  • To keep abreast of new technologies and techniques to deliver cutting edge creative work
  • To guide and mentor Motion Graphic Designers and Designers to improve their skills, increase their brand alignment and improve the quality of their work
  • To introduce new systems and maintain efficiencies within the design delivery process
  • To build an understanding of brands in the hospitality industry from a visual and strategic perspective

Basic Requirements

  • Matric and relevant tertiary qualification in design or similar
  • 4 – 5 years’ industry-related work experience
  • An individual portfolio of design work

Technical Knowledge

  • Proven Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign skills
  • Working knowledge of iWork (Pages, Numbers, Keynote)
  • Ability to conceptualise ideas and bring them to life visually
  • Proven ability to create high quality content from a loose or constrained brief with short deadlines
  • The ability to define and uphold the company’s corporate identity
  • Excellent time management and quality management skills are essential
  • Understanding how design influences the way people learn is advantageous
